Alive 2

Colors got a little skewed when I scanned it.

The right side is a digital layout that has been printed and added to the page using Mod Podge. The left side is painted using FolkArt acrylics, pencil and a little chalk.

Abstract background

I did have quite a bit of fun painting this one. Several layers below is a similar painting I did earlier today, then I wanted to add a little extra and it just didnt look right so I let it dry, added a little gesso, sand papered it a little and tried again.
I used 3 colors: Red Apple, Yellow Ochre, and Calypso Sky. I also added a little violet paint spatters.
This is an 8x10 canvas panel.

I found my inspiration on Suzan Buckner's blog: Thrifty Collage Artist
If you havent checked out her blog yet, you will not be disappointed. The blog is chuck full of wonderful inspiration!

Junque Journal (part 5)

And yet some more pages:

#24 Real Red with some Metallic Bright Red mixed in. Didnt turn out as red as I would have liked though. Added a little doodle on the side using a black paint pen.

#25 I think this one turned out so pretty. Just a caribbean blue with some doodle swirls made using a silver paint pen.

#26 HOT... was attempting to make flames. Dont know if it actually looks like flames... I do think it looks cool. Or maybe I should say it looks hot LOL

#27 I dont know, wall paper maybe? Dusty mauve, petal pink, baby pink, and a slim line of silver (painter pen).

#28 Seeing red? This is the red I was going for before. I havent decided yet how to "finish" this page. Maybe gold? Maybe silver? Or maybe just some black or white? I really love this red. Oh yeah that is a new feeling for me. I never did like red or pink, but I do now.

#29 Another simple page with no decorations. I mixed the colors myself to get a dusty green to go with the green in the paper.

#30 Completely in the dark. I tried to get this one as black as possible, which did require a couple coats of paint. Then I used a white paint pen to make the corner decorations.

#31 I dont know what this is. I included it here to show you that not everything makes sense and not everything turns out anywhere near what I had in mind LOL

#32 Just a mixture of my favorite colors. I just love how they blend together.

That's it for now. I still have more pages that I havent photographed yet, and of course I still need to paint a few more pages. But the book is almost done and ready to use.

Thank you for looking, and of course I enjoy reading your comments/thoughts on this subject.

Junque Journal (part 4)

A few more pages from the Junque Journal.

#18 A very simple set of pages. The colors are not exactly perfect together, but I just didnt know where to go with it. So I left it simple.

#19 I love how vibrant this one is. Love the little circles... It was so much fun to paint. Not sure where I was going with it, but I like it. The yellow, orange, and red are great in a painting like this.

#20 This is another one that just happened. Like a fantasy world. Yellow background, green grass, and blue somethings.

#21 More of my favorite colors. I used the spring green with the caribbean on this one and added a little metallic periwinkle to the caribbean. It looks much better in real life than in the photo LOL.

#22 I knew when I started this one that there was no way I could paint a page to completely match the paper. So I decided to just stay with the colors and paint something entirely different. So the plaid was born LOL. Didnt turn out quite as I saw it in my head, but it was fun!

#23 This is my absolute favorite (so far). I love the colors. And I really enjoyed painting it. It reminds me of something from India. I think I need an elephant on this page.

Junque Journal (part 3)

I have a few pages to share today. I have made more than these, but some are just simple one color pages or maybe just not share worthy ;) Not all of the ones I am sharing are equally nice either. I like sloppy painted pages. I think that is what helps making the Junque journal a Junque Journal.
Some of the pages here appear shiny, that is because I used metallic paints. They do show as shiny in real life, just not as bad as here. The flash on the camera kinda made everything extra shiny.

#13 This is one of my more "sloppy" pages. I couldnt decide what to do on this page to make it match the paper, cause I didnt want to make stripes. I wanted something different. So "sloppy" it got...

#14 This is one of my favorite pages. I love that deep/bright purple, and I think the silver decor in the corners really adds a nice touch.

#15 I like these colors together. Light and dark brown with a touch of pink. The dark brown and the pink were applied using the sequin waste.

#16 This one was really fun for me. I love the colors: Spring Green, Caribean, and Real Red. Such a fun mix.

#17 I personally think this is one of my better pages. I love the colors. Not colors I would normally put together and I got to play with my paint pens a little, without flooding the page.

I do have more pages ready to share but thought I would stop here for now. The rest will be added soon...

Junque Journal (part 2)

Just a couple more pages I made yesterday:

The right page is of course scrapbook paper and the page on the left is my painted page. I love the result :)

This one is probably one of my least favorite pages in this journal. My reason for sharing it is to show you that even if it doesnt start out as you expected with time it might become something. I am thinking that when I add "junque" to this page it will look much better.

Alive

Working on my ABC Album and thought I would share my digital pages here. These will be combined in an art journal. I will print the digital prints then combine with paints, collage, doodles, or whatever else I feel like doing in my journal. The journal I will be using for this one is an 8.25x11.5 inch sketch book.

A is for Alive
Don't send me flowers when I'm dead.
If you like me, semd them while I'm alive.
